Description
Spring is a great time for flowers in the Southwest United States. Most of the rain that falls on the West Coast happens during the winter and early spring months. This sends the wildlife into a happy frenzy. Plants which are brown most of the year finally become green. Cacti and succulents which are can look inhospitable during most of the year spring into life. Everyone knows that flowers are generally pretty, but in my opinion, cactus and succulents put out some of the prettiest flowers.
This picture was shot in the cactus garden at Balboa Park in San Diego. What I love about this shot is how bright the budding flowers are in the shot but also the old snail shell. Somehow this shell got entrapped en the plant’s thorns leaving it there for decoration.
