The Cholla Cactus Garden
$10.00 – $100.00
The Cholla Cactus Garden is one of my favorite places in Joshua Tree National Park. During the spring these prickly cactus go into bloom with vibrant flowers. This particular garden even attracts quite a bit of bumblebees that make this place their home. However, beware of their sharp spines. Their thorns are barbed and extremely difficult to remove from clothing and skin.
This photo was shot during the mid-spring about an hour before the sunset. In the dawn and dusk hours the colors in this valley become vibrant and the hills surrounding them get this golden hue. I highly recommend visiting during those hours if possible. Make this part of your Joshua Tree National Park itinerary.
