For my day hikes when I’d like to do more than just a short distance, quick trail, I like to use my Teton Oasis 1100 18L Hydration Day Pack. This is actually the first hydration day pack that I have ever owned and I absolutely love it for the hikes that I take it on.

Teton Oasis 1100 18L Hydration Day Pack

When I was looking for a hydration day pack, I wanted something small and lightweight, but that could still fit in food and my camera gear. This hydration pack by Teton fits the job. The pack comes with a 2L hydration bladder which is enough for the majority of the hikes that I do. If I ever feel that I may need more water, the pack comes with two mesh pockets on the side that I can stick a water bottle in.

Space

In terms of compartment space, the Teton 1100 18L Hydration Day Pack has one large compartment followed by two smaller ones. For my 13+ mile hikes, this is enough space to provide room for extra food, my Canon camera, an extra lens¬† if I want, and a first aid pack for two. In my two smaller packs I usually pack in some paper lens cleaner, sunglasses, gloves, a beanie, and an extra snack. Sometimes I’ll throw in a pack of beef jerky where the hydration bladder is kept if I need more space. That being said, this hydration pack is enough for me. If I didn’t have a camera, it would be more than enough space.

Durability

I have no problems in term for durability. This product has been through some drenching rain storms. One of my favorite parts of this pack is how it has a waterproof cover tucked inside the bottom of it. The waterproof cover pulls out of the bottom and opens up to cover the day pack from the elements. The waterproof cover is also a bright yellow and easy to be seen if you need an identifier.

One of the other things that I like is the bungee cords to the back of the pack. Often times in Southern California, hikes can start out cold but the temperatures can warm up and you’ll want to lose the jacket. These cords make it easy to attach a jacket to the back of the hydration day pack so that you don’t have to carry it around your waste.

For those people looking for a small, lightweight hydration day pack, I’d strongly recommend the Teton 1100 18L Hydration Day Pack. It’s simple, yet cool in its storage ability. I have the olive green color but there are other colors available (black, orange, blue, and green).¬† Also, this hydration day pack is not hot to carry around!
