I’ve talked on my blog about the White Road hike in Kamuela, Hawaii. It’s one of the most beautiful hikes that I’ve ever been on. The hike takes you through dense tropical jungles to an abrupt end with tropical cliffs and waterfalls hundreds of feet tall. There aren’t really any words to put in to context the tropical view that can be seen from the vantage point of the trail. If a person is lucky enough, consider this hike. However, only attempt the hike if you can get proper land access. Part of the hike is on private property.
This photo was shot along the White Road Hike in Kamuela, Hawaii. One of the best things about this trail is that the elevation is high enough that any passing clouds build up on the mountain and cause a dense, thick fog. The thick jungle combined with the dense fog can provide for a quiet and eerie landscape that makes for some interesting photographs given the right amount of creativity. This hike is in a very wet place and ferns are common to this part of the island. What I love about this photo is the bright green shoots of the new fern plant. The brighten up the otherwise dark shot with the darker background.
