Two Outdoor Challenges To Get Excited About In 2018

If you’re looking for something a little different this year, I want to share two different challenges to help you get outside. Both challenges are completely rewarding and great for building your fitness levels as well as getting some fresh air.

1. The 52 Hike Challenge

Popular in 2017 and extending to 2018 is the 52 Hike Challenge. I know it’s already March, but it’s not too late to get started on this challenge. This challenges encourages participants to get out there and take part in one hike a week. The hike can be any type of hike that you pick. You don’t necessarily have to do a hike each week as long as you do 52 hikes in a year span.

2. The Six Pack Of Peaks Challenge

For those that are looking for something a little less time consuming, there’s the six pack of peaks challenge. In fact, doing the So Cal Six Pack Of Peaks is my 2018 hiking goal.  As part as a training hike for this challenge, I recently hiked Mount Baden-Powell, which is one of the Six Pack alternate peaks.

This challenge started four years ago in Southern California and its premise entails hiking some of the six highest peaks in Southern California. Since the inception, the challenge has extended to peak challenges in Northern California, Colorado Rockies, and also through Central Oregon.
